Alikiba – Chibaba

Ali Saleh Kiba, popularly known as Alikiba or King Kiba, is a renowned Tanzanian singer, songwriter, and owner of the Kings Music label. Born in 1986 in Kigoma, Tanzania, Alikiba has become a household name in East African music, known for his distinctive voice and captivating stage presence. His songs have dominated the charts and streaming platforms, with numerous hits like “Mwana,” “Aje,” “Chekecha Cheketua,” “Cinderella,” and “Nakshi Mrembo,” making him one of Tanzania’s most celebrated artists.

Alikiba’s music journey began with the release of his debut album, Cinderella, which became the best-selling album in East Africa, solidifying his position as a music powerhouse in the region. He has continued to make waves with successful singles and collaborations, such as “Single Boy” with Lady Jaydee and his involvement in the One8 project with R. Kelly.

Over the years, Alikiba has won numerous awards, including six accolades at the 2015 Tanzania Music Awards and a record five awards at the 2022 Tanzania Music Awards for his album Only One King. His influence extends beyond music as he has signed significant endorsement deals, such as with Sony Music Entertainment and Airtel Africa.

Released on 20 September 2024, Chibaba is part of Alikiba’s highly anticipated EP Starter. This Afro-pop banger showcases Alikiba’s refined sound, with powerful lyrics and a captivating melody that reflects his deep-rooted musical talent. Chibaba is one of the seven tracks in the EP, alongside other hits like Nahodha and Top Notch featuring Marioo.

The EP Starter also includes features from top East African artists such as Jay Melody and Nandy, with producers like Mafeeling, Mocco Genius, and TheMixingKiller contributing to its success. With a mix of Afrobeat and Bongo Fleva, Starter is a testament to Alikiba’s ability to stay relevant and innovate in the ever-evolving music industry.
