Ali Saleh Kiba, popularly known as Alikiba or King Kiba, is one of Tanzania’s most celebrated singers, songwriters, and producers. Born in Iringa in 1986, Alikiba has carved a niche for himself in the music industry with his powerful vocals and diverse music styles, blending Bongo Fleva with Afro-pop rhythms. As the owner of Kings Music Records, Alikiba continues to shape the sound of contemporary Tanzanian music.

Raised in a musical family in Kigoma, Alikiba’s passion for music was ignited early on. His brother, Abdu Kiba, is also a musician, while his other siblings, Zabibu Kiba and Abuu Kiba, have been a source of support throughout his career. Alikiba first broke into the limelight with his debut album “Cinderella,” which became the best-selling album across East Africa, including Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda. He is known for hit tracks such as “Mwana,” “Aje,” “Chekecha Cheketua,” “Cinderella,” “Usiniseme,” and “Dushelele.”
Alikiba’s career reached international levels with collaborations like the One8 project alongside R. Kelly and other African artists. He made a remarkable comeback in 2015 with the release of “Mwana” and “Chekecha,” both of which were critically acclaimed, earning him six awards at the 2015 Tanzania Music Awards.
In 2022, Alikiba set a new record by winning five awards at the Tanzania Music Awards, including Album of the Year for “Only One King.” He has also been nominated and won various international awards, including the 2016 MTV Europe Music Awards for Best International Act: Africa, and the 2016 AFRIMMA awards for Best Live Act.
Released on September 20, 2024, “Starter” is Alikiba’s latest EP, showcasing a collection of fresh and dynamic tracks that highlight his versatility and creativity. The EP features seven songs, including collaborations with top East African artists like Marioo (“Top Notch“), Jay Melody (“Hatari”), and Nandy (“Bailando”). With production credits from Mafeeling, Cukie Dady, Mocco Genius, GeniusJini X66, and O. Righty, and mixed by TheMixingKiller, “Starter” promises a high-quality listening experience.
