Yasirun Yasin Shaba, popularly known as “Yammi,” is a rising star in the Bongo Flava music scene. Born on May 20, 2002, in Tanga and raised in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Yammi’s journey into music began at an early age. As the eldest of three children, she nurtured her dream to become a musician from primary school, drawing inspiration from her love for Indian music. In high school, Yammi honed her skills and confidence by participating in advanced talent competitions, where her unique sound and style started to take shape.

Yammi’s big break came in 2022 when a viral performance video caught the attention of Tanzanian music icon, Nandy. This moment marked the official launch of her music career, leading to the release of her debut EP, “Three Hearts,” in January 2023. The EP, consisting of three tracks, explores themes of love, happiness, and heartbreak, showcasing Yammi’s powerful vocal range and emotive storytelling.
“Nitadumu Nae,” released on September 11, 2024, is a soulful collaboration between Yammi and Mbosso, two of Tanzania’s most talented artists. This Bongo Flava track blends Yammi’s distinctive voice with Mbosso’s smooth vocals, creating a harmonious duet that captures the essence of enduring love. The song’s heartfelt lyrics and captivating melody have quickly made it a favorite among fans of Tanzanian music.
