Frida Amani, also known as “Madam President” of Bongo Rap, is one of East Africa’s fastest-rising female hip-hop artists. Born and raised in Arusha, Tanzania, Frida Amani developed a love for music at the age of 7, singing in the church choir with her grandparents. She studied media production in college, but her passion for music led her to pursue a career as a rapper. Frida Amani’s rise to fame began in 2015 when she placed third in the Bongo Star Search competition, where she performed the song “Nusu Nusu” by Joh Makini featuring G Nako. In 2018, she returned to the music scene with the hit single “Jibebe,” while also working as a radio and TV presenter at Clouds Media in Dar es Salaam.

She has collaborated with several notable artists, including Mimi Mars, and continues to inspire a new generation of female rappers in Tanzania.
