Faustina Charles Mfinanga, known professionally as Nandy, was born on November 9, 1992, in Moshi, Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. Renowned for her dynamic presence in the Tanzanian music scene, Nandy has made a significant mark as an actress, singer, and songwriter. Her stage name, Nandy, is a shortened version of her real name, Nandera. Raised by her mother Mary Charles, a tailor, and her father Charles Mfinanga, a mechanic, Nandy’s musical journey began at a young age as a member of her Church Choir.

Her career took off when she was introduced to Ruge Mutahaba, CEO of Tanzania House of Talent (THT). With the support of producer Emma the Boy, Nandy released her debut single “Nagusagusa,” which quickly became a hit. Her success was further solidified with her impressive performance in the 2016 Tecno Own The Stage competition, where she was the first runner-up. Nandy’s participation in Coke Studio Africa and her subsequent wins, including the Best Female Artist East Africa at the 2017 All Africa Music Awards and Best Female Artist at the 2020 African Entertainment Awards USA, showcase her growing influence.
In addition to her music career, Nandy is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for the WASH programme, advocating for clean water and sanitation services across over 100 countries.
