Zuhura Othman Soud, better known by her stage name Zuchu, is a prominent Tanzanian singer and songwriter born on November 22, 1993, in Zanzibar. Currently based in Dar es Salaam, Zuchu is signed to the WCB Wasafi record label, where she has achieved remarkable success. Her career began in earnest when she joined the Wasafi Family in 2016 after impressing Diamond Platnumz with her audition.

Zuchu’s rise to fame includes numerous accolades such as being the first East African female artist to reach 100,000 subscribers on YouTube within a week and later hitting 1 million subscribers. In 2020, she was honored with the AFRIMMA Emerging Artist Award. Her YouTube success continued into 2023, with Zuchu surpassing 500 million views, a milestone that made her the first female artist in East Africa and the fifth in Africa to achieve this feat.
Her debut EP, I Am Zuchu, released in 2020, features the hit single “Nisamehe,” produced by Lizer Classic. The EP showcases Zuchu’s signature Bongo Flava and Baibuda styles. Zuchu’s unique musical contributions have garnered her a significant following and multiple award nominations, including at the Tanzania Music Awards and Soundcity MVP Awards.
