Zuchu – Raha

Zuhura Othman Soud, popularly known by her stage name Zuchu, was born on November 22, 1993, in Zanzibar, Tanzania. Zuchu is a talented Tanzanian singer and songwriter currently signed to WCB Wasafi, one of East Africa’s leading record labels. Rising from a musical heritage, Zuchu is the daughter of the renowned Zanzibari Taarab musician, Khadija Kopa. With a blend of Bongo Flava and Baibuda genres, she has rapidly become one of Africa’s most influential female artists since her debut in 2020.

Zuchu’s breakout came with the release of her debut EP, I Am Zuchu, which features the hit single “Raha.” Produced by Lizer Classic, “Raha” is a vibrant track that captures the essence of Tanzanian Bongo Flava, showcasing Zuchu’s vocal prowess and unique musical style. The song quickly gained massive popularity, further solidifying Zuchu’s place in the African music scene.

Zuchu’s achievements are remarkable. She became the first East African female artist to reach 100,000 YouTube subscribers in just a week and later reached 1 million subscribers within 11 months, earning her YouTube’s prestigious Silver Plaque Button. In 2023, Zuchu made history by surpassing 500 million views on YouTube, making her the first female artist in East Africa and the fifth in Africa to achieve this milestone.
