Zuhura Othman Soud, better known by her stage name Zuchu, is a celebrated Tanzanian singer and songwriter born on November 22, 1993, in Zanzibar. Signed to the renowned WCB Wasafi record label, Zuchu has quickly risen to fame with her unique blend of Bongo Flava and Baibuda genres. Her music career officially took off in 2020, and she has since become one of the most influential female artists in East Africa.

Zuchu’s success is marked by several significant milestones. She was awarded the Silver Plaque Button by YouTube for reaching 100,000 subscribers within a week of launching her channel, a first for an East African female artist. She later became the first female artist in East Africa to reach 1 million subscribers on YouTube within 11 months. In 2023, Zuchu continued to break barriers, winning five awards at the Tanzania Music Awards and surpassing 500 million views on YouTube, making her the first female artist in East Africa to achieve this milestone.
Zuchu’s musical journey is deeply rooted in her Swahili Zanzibari heritage, being the daughter of the legendary Taarab musician Khadija Kopa. This rich musical background has greatly influenced her sound and style, allowing her to create music that resonates with fans across the continent.
