Zuhura Othman Soud, better known by her stage name Zuchu, is a Tanzanian singer and songwriter born on November 22, 1993, in Zanzibar. Currently based in Dar es Salaam, Zuchu is signed to the prominent WCB Wasafi record label. Her meteoric rise in the music industry began in 2020, and she has since become a leading figure in East African music, particularly in the Bongo Flava and Baibuda genres.

Zuchu’s musical journey is deeply rooted in her heritage, as she hails from a Swahili Zanzibari family with a rich musical background. She is the daughter of renowned Taarab musician Khadija Kopa, who also features in the song “Mauzauza.” Zuchu’s talents were first publicly recognized during her participation in the first edition of TECNO OWN THE STAGE in 2015. However, it was her emotional audition with the song “Wana” that led to her being signed by Diamond Platnumz to the WCB Wasafi label in 2016.

Her achievements include becoming the first East African female artist to reach 100,000 subscribers on YouTube within a week and surpassing 1 million subscribers within just 11 months. In 2022, she made history as the most subscribed female artist in Sub-Saharan Africa on YouTube and became the first East African female artist to achieve 100 million streams on Boomplay.
