Billnass, one of Tanzania’s most famous rappers, delivers a powerful new release titled ‘Oktoba Tunatiki’. Born in Tanga in 1993, the artist, whose real name is William Nicholaus Lyim, is known for blending rap with Afro sounds and addressing issues that affect people in their everyday lives.

‘Oktoba Tunatiki‘ was released on 26 August 2025 and is a politically inspired anthem directly related to the general election campaign in Tanzania. The song’s slogan comes from the CCM party’s call under President Samia Hassan Suluhu for citizens to embrace civic responsibility and the spirit of democracy.
Billnass has long been a voice of the street. Named one of the ‘50 Artists To Watch’ by MTV Base in 2017 and later honoured as Best Male Hip-Hop Artist at the Tanzania Music Awards 2022, he represents the evolution of Tanzanian rap. With ‘Oktoba Tunatiki’, he bridges the gap between music and activism, delivering a sound that is both catchy and conscious.
