Zuchu, born Zuhura Othman Soud on November 22, 1993, is a celebrated Tanzanian singer and songwriter. Hailing from Zanzibar and currently based in Dar es Salaam, Zuchu is signed to the renowned WCB Wasafi record label. Known for her powerful voice and captivating performances, Zuchu has rapidly risen to prominence in the East African music scene, with her tracks frequently topping charts and gaining significant streaming and download numbers on platforms like Boomplay.
Background: Zuchu comes from a musical family in Swahili Zanzibar. She is the daughter of the esteemed Taarab musician Khadija Kopa, which heavily influenced her musical career. Zuchu made her debut in 2015 during the first edition of TECNO OWN THE STAGE in Lagos, Nigeria.
Career: Starting her music journey at a young age, Zuchu collaborated with her mother on the track “Mauzauza” from her debut EP “I Am Zuchu EP.” Her official music career began in April 2020 with a highly acclaimed EP, marking her as a standout artist in the Tanzanian music scene.
