Albert Keneth Mangweha, widely known as Ngwair, was a legendary Tanzanian hip hop artist celebrated for his unmatched freestyle punchlines and hardcore rap style. Born on November 16, 1982, in Mbeya, Tanzania, Ngwair emerged as a prominent figure in the Bongo Flava and hip hop scenes. He started his music career in 2003 with the hit track “Ghetto Langu,” produced by P Funk Majani, and later released his debut album, “AKA MIMI,” in 2004, which is still considered one of the greatest hip hop albums in Tanzanian music history.

Ngwair was not just an artist but also an entrepreneur, owning the 120 Carnival liquor hub in Sinza, Dar es Salaam. His influence in the music industry earned him accolades, including the 2011 Tanzania Music Award for Best Hip Hop Artist. Unfortunately, Ngwair’s life was cut short on May 28, 2013, in Johannesburg, South Africa, under circumstances that remain surrounded by controversy.
