Zuhura Othman Soud, professionally known as Zuchu, is a renowned Tanzanian singer and songwriter born on November 22, 1993, in Zanzibar. Currently based in Dar es Salaam, Zuchu is signed to the WCB Wasafi record label. She gained prominence with her debut single “Kwaru,” which was well-received by fans and critics alike.

Zuchu’s rise in the music industry has been meteoric. She was awarded the Silver Plaque Button by YouTube for reaching 100,000 subscribers within a week, becoming the first East African female artist to achieve this milestone. She also made history as the first East African female artist to reach 1 million subscribers on YouTube within 11 months. In 2023, Zuchu won five awards at the Tanzania Music Awards and surpassed 500 million views on YouTube, a milestone achieved by only a few African artists.
Zuchu hails from a musical Swahili Zanzibari family. Her mother, Khadija Kopa, is a prominent Taarab musician, and her father, Othman Soud, was a songwriter and later became a police officer.
