Ikechukwu Eric Ahiauzu, professionally known as Ric Hassani, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and musician born on January 6, 1989, in Port Harcourt. Ric Hassani emerged in the music scene with his debut single, “Dance Dance Baby Dance,” in 2012, followed by “Double Double.” His unique sound, blending elements of Pop and African music, has made him a prominent figure in the industry.

Ric Hassani made history in September 2015 as the first Nigerian artist to headline the Lake of Stars Festival in Lilongwe, Malawi, alongside acts like Uhuru and Toya Delazy. That same year, he released his first album compilation, African Tour Select Singles 2015, and later an acoustic EP featuring tracks like “Joy,” “Stay,” and “Depression.” His debut album, The African Gentleman, was released in 2017, with the hit single “Only You” amassing over 42 million streams across platforms.
A graduate of Covenant University in Nigeria, Ric Hassani also holds a master’s degree in energy economics from the University of Surrey. His style is influenced by artists like Sam Smith, Craig David, and his favorite band, Boyz II Men. In April 2023, he released his singles “Amina” and “The One,” marking a strong return to the music scene. In 2024, Ric was announced as a judge on Nigerian Idol Season 9, alongside Omawumi and 9ice.
