Faustina Charles Mfinanga, popularly known as Nandy, is a celebrated Tanzanian singer, songwriter, and actress born on November 9, 1992. Hailing from the Pare heritage, Nandy grew up in Moshi, Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania. Known for her captivating voice and unique blend of Bongo Flava and Afro-pop, Nandy has become a significant figure in the East African music scene. She first gained recognition with her hit single “Nagusagusa,” produced by Emma the Boy, which quickly became a fan favorite.

Nandy’s musical journey began at a young age, singing in her church choir and later becoming the head of the school choir at Lomwe High School. Her passion for music was further nurtured at the Tanzania House of Talent (THT), where she honed her skills under the mentorship of industry veterans like Ruge Mutahaba. Her big break came in 2016 when she became the first runner-up in the “Tecno Own the Stage” competition, gaining exposure and performance experience.
With hits like “One Day” and a successful run at Coke Studio Africa in 2017, Nandy has continued to rise, winning awards such as Best Female Artist East Africa at the 2017 All Africa Music Awards, Best Female Newcomer at the 2018 AMI Awards Afrika, and Best Female Artist at the 2020 African Entertainment Awards USA. Beyond her music, she is also the Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF’s WASH program, focusing on clean water, sanitation, and hygiene.
